Training

We offer all mandatory training. Our training courses assist with meeting regulating inspecting body requirements. Our training is delivered in an informal way that enables all learners to fully understand and put into practice what they have learnt. In order to meet your needs we offer training 7 days a week 24 hours a day, including Bank Holidays except for Christmas Day.

A sample of the courses we offer are:

  • Moving & Handling
This is a full day course either on individual basis or group of up to 8 delegates.
  • Safeguarding Adults at Risk (previously SOVA)
In order to ensure that the Service Users are protected the whole care team need to understand how to recognise and respond to abuse and neglect.  It is particularly important that Carers know how to minimise situations that could lead to abuse, how to recognise the signs of abuse and are clear what steps they need to take if they suspect a Service User is being abused. The course will enable the care staff to identify and also discuss what the definition of abuse is. In addition to what is consent, who is a vulnerable adult and what the different types of abuse are and what they mean.
  • Mental Capacity & DOLS
There has never been a more important time for Care staff to develop an awareness of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). Working correctly with people who may lack what is known as "mental capacity" is expected of all health and social care providers. This course will be put across in plain language, to enable all staff to understand.

Care Training Services

The Mental Capacity Act has now been extended to cover all people who have difficulty in making or are unable to make their own decisions, significantly raising the relevance and importance of the Act to all health and social care workers.

The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards have been introduced into the Mental Capacity Act 2005 by the Mental Health Act 2007.

The safeguards provide a framework for approving the deprivation of liberty for people who lack the capacity to consent to treatment or care in either a hospital or care home that, in their own best interests, can only be provided in circumstances that amount to a deprivation of liberty.

The safeguards legislation contains detailed requirements about when and how deprivation of liberty may be authorised. It provides for an assessment process that must be undertaken before authorisation, and detailed arrangements for renewing and challenging the authorisation. This course will help all care staff understand their new obligations.

Our training places a strong emphasis on person centred approaches to support an individual to make their own decisions or when this is not possible, to actively involve them in the decision making process. The training will enable employees to be more consistent when supporting the vulnerable people in their care.
